Fieldays 2021

Satellite has partnered with Fieldays since 2019. Helping to develop and enhance the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest Agricultural event through technology, ticketing and evolving digital solutions.

The past 3 years have seen a physical event, an online event only and then in 2021, a hybrid of both. 

With over 120,000 attendees there were a considerable number of challenges that had to be considered for the 2021 event. Health & Safety protocols for the wider event, safe logistical management of public gate and exhibitor ticketing (in lieu of Covid), deep dive analytics reporting, no international visitors, an immersive online virtual component, and effective handling of exhibitor e-commerce opportunities.

Event Ticketing

The return of Fieldays as a physical event was highly anticipated and welcomed by the Waikato region. The exodus of 120,000 + attendees and 1000+ exhibitors was an exercise in efficient event access and logistical management particularly seeing this was the 2nd highest turnout in Fieldays history.

Incorporating our extensive multi-functional Satellite Tag event and ticketing product we delivered online ticket purchase via a ticket fulfilment website. Once registered on the site, digital tickets were downloadable to a device or could be printed.  We also installed as an alternative a POS system so people could purchase tickets at the gate. 


Fieldays TV

The 2021 opening event was live streamed via a live online portal on the Fieldays website, which was especially important for overseas visitors who could not attend. In conjunction with this we had a full complement of production staff onsite who ran Fieldays TV, hosted by Te Radar (FDTV). Covering the full spectrum of the event with interviews, roving reporters and brand stories, special offers and competitions.


Online & Onsite Experience

Satellite created and managed the main Fieldays Event website. Contented with Event and Exhibitor info, Maps, FAQs, Health & Safety messaging and contact information. This was supported by an IOS companion mobile app incorporating location wayfinding, general Fieldays info, amenities, and H&S details.


Exhibitors also had the option of tier packaging with the highest tier allowing for a main site listing plus their own dedicated microsite portal with brand content, video galleries, promotions and bespoke competitions, social links, direct EDM and sales lead messaging. 


We provided onsite technical support for Satellite-created client activations, exhibitors and online content management for the main website, microsites, and apps, available for the duration of the event.

Satellite created the CMS to support main site functionality plus the ability to create and content manage all client microsites and Sponsor Apps either by us or the client. Full online technical support and hosting management was also provided.

We also provided fabrication of some hardware and software for specific client activations including screens, devices, kiosks, and connectivity. For the Fieldays Team we designed a portal for money management, data reporting and volunteer and staff management.

With a multi-faceted approach to this year’s Fieldays the results online and onsite show the success of this model with 90,000 leads generated for exhibitors, a 14.5m global audience reach, record onsite crowds and a 90% arrival rating from exhibitors.
