TRENZ Ōtautahi Christchurch

TRENZ is New Zealand’s largest annual business-to-business travel and trade event, managed by Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA). After a lengthy four year break, and with great enthusiasm from the tourism industry, TRENZ was back in business in 2023. Held at Ōtautahi’s stunning Te Pae Conference Centre, the four day event saw over 1,500 sellers and international buyers come together to network, secure business and seek new opportunities.

Satellite were engaged by TIA to provide multiple event technology solutions for the 2023 event including the website, registration and ticket sales, meeting management, networking, communications, a personalised mobile companion, delegate access control and attendance tracking, and onsite operations during pack-in and the event week.

Satellite were excited to again help bring to life the onsite event. Having partnered with TIA since 2018, Satellite has a strong relationship with TIA and are jointly responsible for the success of the event.

Innovative event technology

In the lead up to the event, Satellite’s Tag event platform allowed Buyers, Sellers and Media to register and purchase packages and add-ons to the event. Post registration, Satellite’s algorithm matched up well suited buyers and sellers to ensure the meetings onsite were as mutually beneficial as possible.

Our Tag event technology allowed 1,500 attendees to come together and partake in 13,883 meetings across four days. In a post event survey, 95% stated "great" feedback on their appointments. 

The TRENZ personalised mobile companion site was highly utilised and highly lauded by attendees in the lead up to, and while at the tourism event. Satellite bult a mobile app for the TRENZ - with personalised schedules, note taking and messaging functionality, an interactive floorplan, coffee ordering (to the tune of 4,224 orders made), host city information and more, it was the tool of choice for sellers and buyers.
