Delivering seamless event tech for the NZ Open Golf Tournament

As New Zealand’s premier golf event, the NZ Open brings together professional players, VIP guests, sponsors, and media in an immersive, multi-venue, mutli-day experience.

To help elevate the experience, Satellite delivered an integrated technology solution that powered the event. From partner ticketing portals and mobile wallet passes to personalised guest schedules and real-time access control, we ensured everything ran smoothly on and off the green.

With our TAG platform at the core, the NZ Open offered a world-class experience that was connected, automated, and easy to manage for organisers, partners, and guests alike.

The challenge

The New Zealand Open needed a robust and scalable event technology solution to manage its high-profile tournament, which included multiple days of activity, various tiers of attendees, and exclusive hospitality functions. Satellite was tasked with delivering a seamless experience across guest access, hosting, and sponsor engagement.

The solution

To meet the NZ Open’s complex operational needs, Satellite configured a dedicated instance of our live experience platform, TAG, specifically for the tournament. This included customised partner portals for managing guest allocations, direct guest and player registration with tailored access levels, and detailed scheduling for all functions and hosted events.

Partner portal

Each partner was provided access to a dedicated portal, giving them full visibility and control over their guest allocations. Through the portal, they could view their total allocation and remaining balance, add guests and define their attendance dates, instantly send digital tickets, and see real-time updates as their guest list evolved.

Mobile Tickets & Guest Experience

Guests received a mobile ticket designed to enhance their experience, featuring a personalised schedule based on their access level. The ticket also provided key event content, including a venue map, event details, sponsor profiles, travel information, and contact support. For added convenience, tickets were compatible with mobile wallets, making entry seamless and efficient.

Access Control & Ticket Distribution

Digital tickets were automatically generated and delivered to guests via email, ensuring a smooth and timely distribution process. On-site, access control and technical support were in place to verify credentials and ensure that only attendees with the correct assignments could enter designated events and venues.

Content Management & Reporting

Content updates were centrally managed across both the partner portal and the ticketing site, ensuring consistency and accuracy. Real-time reporting dashboards provided valuable insights, allowing organisers to monitor ticket generation by both partners and the core team, as well as track guest entry into specific functions and hosted areas.

The results

The implementation of TAG at the NZ Open delivered measurable success across operations, attendee experience, and partner engagement. By centralising guest registration, ticketing, access control, and reporting within a single platform, event operations were significantly streamlined and manual workflows reduced.

Partner organisations were empowered to manage their own guest lists and ticket distribution, with real-time visibility into allocations and usage. Attendees enjoyed a premium experience through personalised schedules, an intuitive mobile ticket interface, and seamless access to approved event areas. Meanwhile, organisers benefited from real-time insights into ticketing and entry activity, enabling more informed decision-making throughout the tournament.

With our TAG platform powering the NZ Open, the tournament delivered a world-class experience that was seamlessly connected, effortlessly managed, and built for future success.
