Adding to the success of the World Masters Games

Satellite were the accreditation partners for the World Masters Games in Auckland. With 28 sports, 48 venues, 28,000 participants as well as media, volunteers, a local organising committee and VIP’s the scale and complexity of the project was significant.

The project was a year in the planning and covered data management, design and build of the accreditation system and mobile site as well as event and project management.

The data and platform

Satellite worked closely with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to design a robust yet agile accreditation system that would take data from the WMG registration website and turn it into an easy-to-use, constantly live and 100% accountable platform.

Participants were sent a link to their personalised World Masters Games mobile site (designed and built by Satellite) containing all the information they needed for the games. Satellite sourced and imported all of the accreditation stock, the lanyards and tiered lanyard card system.

Satellite Media are a first-class company who will go over and above to satisfy the requirements of a project. Their creative concepts and strategies, and ability to think outside of the box, along with their flexible, open and welcoming working style made for an incredibly effective partnership. The Accreditation Project for the World Masters Games 2017 would not have been the success it was without the knowledge and unbelievable support of the entire team at Satellite Media!

Training and staffing

Whilst complex in the backend, the system was designed to be used by volunteers, often with limited technical skills. Satellite worked with the LOC on the training of all staff, and supported them with technical assistance for every hour of the 10 days the accreditation system was open.

Installation and support

Satellite also installed the entire system and provided back-up plans for any eventuality. Reporting all data daily and often hourly to ensure that the LOC had the most up-to-date information to allow any staffing/communication updates to be made where necessary.
