Anchor Olympics

Brief:

As a sponsor to the New Zealand Olympic Team, Anchor wanted to capitalise on the opportunity to expand their brand awareness and drive sales during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The Entry Mechanic:

Specially marked Anchor products were rolled out in store with unique codes printed behind the label. When a user entered a code, it would unlock a potential outcome for the New Zealand athlete, and a potential prize for the user. If the Olympic scenario played out, the user would win a prize.

Creative:

Satellite developed a bespoke solution to manage all the Olympic events and the possible medal scenarios for New Zealand athletes. The solution allowed users to register and manage their account. Users could enter their unique codes to create an opportunity to win.

As event scenarios played out during the Olympics, winners would be automatically notified by email that their scenario had played out and they were winners (along with the good news that New Zealand had just won a medal).

The Outcome:

This was the first promotional campaign where Anchor had used unique codes on pack. Satellite's experience in this type of entry mechanic enabled us to add considerable insight and direction to how it should work. Participation in the promotion exceeded all expectations.
